EL PASO, Texas – El Paso Locomotive FC (West-2, 8-1-3, 25 points) secured a second consecutive win against New Mexico United at Isotopes Park on Saturday night to extend its undefeated streak to nine games with wins in the last seven.
A back and forth in the first half, Locomotive registered eight shots and held 53% of possession during the first 45 minutes of play. Defensively, Locomotive’s backline closed off many of New Mexico’s offensive pursuits, making five interceptions and winning six tackles.
The match would remain scoreless up until the 71’, when midfielder Denys Kostyshyn headed an Eder Borelli cross into the net.
Despite New Mexico’s best efforts, Locomotive stood firm defensively, cutting off passing lanes and neutralizing any threats at goal to hold on to its lead and secure another three massive points.
