EL PASO, Texas (Thursday, July 9, 2020) – El Paso Locomotive FC is set to restart its second campaign in USL Championship when it hosts Rio Grande Valley FC at Southwest University Park on Saturday, July 11. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. MT and will be broadcast live on El Paso – Las Cruces CW and ESPN+.
With the temporary suspension of the 2020 USL Championship, Locomotive FC returns to Southwest University Park for the first time since its dominating 3-0 Western Conference semifinal win in 2019. Locomotive last stepped out on the pitch in the 2020 Regular Season opener on the road against Orange County SC in a contest that saw a tight back-and-forth end in a scoreless draw. Throughout the hiatus, Locomotive FC stayed fit while taking necessary precautions to stay safe and is eager to return to play to build off the success from the 2019 season.
Locomotive FC is prepared to return to play against its Copa Tejas rival, Rio Grande Valley FC who opened its season to less than ideal results. RGV fell to a 5-1 rout against LA Galaxy II at home in its 2020 Season Opener. After having four months to reset and the past four weeks to work on tactics and fitness, the Locos will be looking to claim crucial inter-group play points to get ahead in Group C.
