Midfielder Yuma has been a key a component when Locomotive FC plays against Copa Tejas rival, Rio Grande Valley FC.
Having played for the full 90 minutes in both matchups against RGVFC in 2019, Yuma has completed 124 passes for a 91.8% passing accuracy to cut through the Toros midfield. His defensive mind has proven to limit damage done with seven clearances and two interceptions while winning eight duels to shut down the RGV offensive.
That distinctive defensive mindset played a roll when RGV visited Southwest University Park in March 2019, as a forward thinking Yuma blocked out a Toros defender and the line of sight towards goal to give teammate Nick Ross the opening to convert the first goal of the match.
With the veteran Spaniard in the defensive midfield, expertly reading the pitch, expect him to continue being a thorn in the side for the visitors from Rio Grande Valley.
Locomotive FC will return to play for the 2020 USL Championship season this Saturday, July 11. Kickoff from Southwest University Park is set for 7:30 p.m. MT and will be broadcasted live on EPSN+ and locally on El Paso – Las Cruces CW, with commentary provided by Duke Keith and Michael Balogun.
