El Paso Locomotive FC secured a commanding 5-1 victory over Las Vegas Lights FC in the USL eCup: FIFA Edition Wednesday evening. Alexy Bosetti led the charge representing the Argentina Men’s National Team against Jose Carrera representing Uruguay.
Bosetti got off to a quick start in the 10th minute as a perfect through-ball found Argentina star Lionel Messi who broke past the defense before converting for an opening goal. In the 16th minute, the Vegas side was shown red, giving Bosetti the man advantage for the remaining 74 minutes, which he took advantage of. Messi and Sergio Aguero paired perfectly within the half-hour mark when Messi lobbed the ball from the touchline into the center of the penalty area where Aguero headed the ball perfectly to double the lead and go into the break with a two-goal lead.
Aguero notched a brace shortly after the 2nd half whistle, taking one shot to clean up a loosely deflected save. While Uruguay was able to pull one back in the 56th minute, it wasn’t enough to stop Bosetti and Argentina to find two more goals through Lucas Ocampos, who recorded a brace in three minutes to secure the 5-1 win.
“He scored because I woke up my daughter,” Alexy Bosetti said after the victory.
Bosetti will lead the Argentina National Team into the Division B Semifinals against Sacramento Republic FC representing Mexico on Thursday, May 27. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m. MT and will be streamed live on the Official El Paso Locomotive FC Twitch channel.
